Employment Information

The Borough of Forest Hills posts job vacancies, when available, at the borough hall. Full time and part time jobs are advertised in one or more of the following local newspapers: Pittsburgh Post Gazette and/or Pittsburgh Tribune Review. The borough may also post openings in other newspapers, journals or media as needed including posting on this website. Seasonal employment or temporary part time employment is usually posted only in the borough’s Tree City Times newsletter. Availability of jobs may also be limited by contract or civil service requirements.

NOTE: Applicants should review the borough’s background check policy available here.

Any applicant who is applying for a position that involves interaction with children under the age of 18, must have a Act 33-34 Form (Child Abuse History Clearance) completed in addition to the DHS and FBI Clearances. The cost to have this done is $10.00. The Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form is available here.

The Act 33-34 Form can also be found at:

http://keepkidssafe.pa.gov/resources/clearances/index.htm

The cost of the clearances is initially the responsibility of the applicant, but the borough will reimburse the applicant with the receipt of those payments. See below for details on how to obtain reimbursement.

Questions should be directed to the borough office during business hours at (412) 351-7330.

Job Application
Forest Hills only accepts applications and resumes for vacant positions. Unless otherwise specified, the borough will not accept applications for a vacancy after the posted deadline date for applications. Job applications are available for download by clicking here.

Applications are also available from the borough office during business hours. Completed applications must be submitted to the borough office and are not accepted via e-mail at this time. A resume, reference list and a letter of interest may be required in addition to the borough’s application form (see the specific job posting for requirements).

Summer Recreation Application
Those applying for summer jobs must complete the borough’s job application above and attach the summer employment application available for download by clicking here.

See the summer application for details.

All applicants must fill out the Summer Employment Application, the Borough Application and a Background Check Form in order to be considered for any position with the Borough.

Please print out all three forms: Summer Employment Application, Borough Application and Background Check, fill out, sign and return to the borough building on the date listed on the Summer Employment Application. If the office is closed please place all applications in a sealed envelope, marked to the attention of Cindy Simm, Recreation Director and place in the overnight box located at the front door of the borough office. With regards to the background check, do not send in all pages, only return the two pages that have your signature and initials.

ATTENTION TO ALL APPLICANTS: Because of a  2015 Pennsylvania Law, all applicants that have interaction with children 18 years and younger, will need to fill out the following: Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) and DHS Clearances in addition to an FBI Clearance.  The following provides a link  to acquire the PSP Forms(Act 33/34).  The following is a link to PSP Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History PATCH website.

When asked for a code for the DHS/FBI Clearance, please use 1KG756.

If you have already been employed by the borough and applied for the PSP Clearance, applicants will not have to re-apply (to be done every 60 months). The borough will reimburse the applicant for these clearances; make sure you turn in your receipts before the first day of employment to either the Borough’s Treasurer, or to the Recreation Director.

Background Checks
Forest Hills Borough requires that all applicants for positions with the borough submit background check form. The borough’s policy on background checks along with the background check application can be download by clicking here.
